Attic Flooring Prices
Normal Attic Flooring
Normal attic flooring is where one can lay an attic floor on existing ceiling joists. This type of floor is only laid when the area to be floored is clear of cables, pipes, runners (a runner is wood that runs along top of ceiling hoists to keep roof firm and can be removed), insulation that rises above joists, insulation cant be squashed down as it looses its insulating value and is less effective if squashed down.
The type of flooring we use is OSB board which is tongued and grooved plywood that is extremely strong. We don’t use chipboard as it is a very inferior product and over time gets brittle.
Raised Attic Flooring
Raised attic flooring used when I can’t lay a normal attic floor. If cables, pipes or runners are crossing the attic where the floor is to be laid you will need a raised attic floor. If insulation that rises above joists, insulation can’t be squashed down as it looses its insulating value and is less effective if squashed down.
